Reproduction Door

This doorway recreates the original that was removed from a Greenfield house around 1930. The door and surround became the entryway to the antiques department at Macy's department store in Manhattan before it was sold and installed on a home in suburban New York City. Based on photographs of the original, we faithfully copied the door using custom moldings, antique hardware, and hand-planed pine. In the classic Connecticut River Valley style, this doorway uses multiple built-up and "doubled" moldings to create an imposing entryway. A copy of this doorway is available for sale by Historic Preservation Associates. The copy is identical to the one shown with the exception that it doesn't have glass lites in the door.
